Garment Care:
Cotton, acrylic, and polyester are typically more durable and able to be machine washed and dried on low heat and delicate cycles. All other fibers tend to be more delicate.
For best results, I recommend hand washing all knit and crochet garments in cool water with very light detergent. To dry, roll up or lay flat on a towel to dry or hang dry in open air away from direct sunlight.
About 70% of my creations are made with cotton yarn, the other 30% is almost all reclaimed and thrifted synthetic fibers.
Natural Fibers vs Synthetic Fibers
Synthetic fibers are man-made through chemical processes. Natural fibers come from plant, animal, and protein fibers.
Examples
Natural Fibers: Cotton, Bamboo, Hemp, Linen, Soy, Silk
Animal Fibers: Alpaca, Angora, Cashmere, Llama, Mohair, Wool, Yak.
Synthetic Fibers: Acrylic, Polyester, Spandex, Nylon, Rayon, Kevlar
